Georges Cadoudal, born in Brec'h on January 1, 1771 and guillotined on June 25, 1804 in Paris, is a Chouan general, posthumous Marshal of France, commander of the Catholic and Royal Army of Brittany.
Son of wealthy peasants, charismatic and endowed with Herculean strength, Cadoudal was first and foremost a supporter of the French Revolution. He detached himself from it in 1791, after the civil constitution of the clergy, then took up arms against it in 1793 to oppose conscription during the levée en masse. Following the failure of the peasant rebellions in Brittany, Cadoudal won the Vendée in June. Captain in the Breton companies under the orders of Bonchamps, he took part in the battles of
