    Description

    Here we have a stunning thin walled yellow glazed cup and saucer set.  Decorated with cabling and cat’s eyes this dates to ca. 1830.  The cup is decorated with 4 finely formed looped cable decorations and the narrow side of the saucer has cat’s eye and cable decorations.  The cup measures 2 ¾” in height and width, the saucer 4 ¼” in width.  A similar cup and saucer are shown and described in Jonathan Rickard’s definitive book “MOCHA and related dipped wares, 1770-1939” on pages 126 and 127.  The underside of the cup is faintly impressed, from what I can read, the mark may be “L & T MONT” which corresponds with the side note on page 126.  These are in original mint condition and survive with no damage or repairs, having been cherished and cared for, for nearly 200 years.
